Leap is a 60-player FPS that looks like Tribes with hoverboards and a robo-European elk
Citadel: Forged With Fire developer Blue Islet Studios is functioning on a new project named Leap that will pit up to 60 players against one another in high-mobility, aerial-centralised FPS combat. The shooter is "coming soon" to Steam clean, and will start closed beta testing later this month.
Leap players will choose from four unique classes, each with a chiseled combination of power, agility, apologetic capability, and extraordinary abilities, As they take up implements of war in team-supported battles of upwards to 60 players on behalf of the United Earth Defense Concretion or the Exo-Terrans. Traverse crosswise Leaping's "large-scale maps," will be motor-assisted by jetpacks, grappling hooks, and "personal vehicles," and complex by automated turrets, cavity strikes, and player-possessed sail missiles.
The laggard takes for a while to get to actual gameplay, merely one time it gets rolling it reminds Pine Tree State a bit of Tribes, which appeals to the fashionable online shooter fan in me—although it apparently opts for snowboarding instead than skiing. But Blue Isle is pretty clearly opting to take a not-whole-serious approach to the action: Other vehicles in the game include what appears to be some rather cyber inner tube and—I'm non kidding here—a "mechanical moose."
Yes, seriously.
We'll get a better sense of how that impression translates into gameplay with the start of the closed beta mental testing on January 19. If you'd like to tally it extinct for yourself, you can sign up for access to the beta at playleap.com. Leap is presently set to launch into Archaean Accession on Steamer later this year, and you can have a look at many screens belt down below.
